Man, the hookups on the set of Gossip Girl just don’t stop! Starpulse reports that Leighton Meester might be engaged to boyfriend Sebastian Stan. Reportedly, Meester would like to keep this under wraps, only telling select friends via Facebook and disclosing the news to very close friends.
So, if this is true, oops. Cat’s out of the bag.
Ok, let us recap for those of you who weren't keeping up with the Gossip Girl cast hookups. Blake Lively and Penn Badgely are a long-term couple. Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr were reportedly spotted kissing in an airport over Thanksgiving. Then, not to be outdone, Taylor Momsen and Chace Crawford were allegedly caught kissing at the holiday party in New York. Now Leighton Meester might be engaged? OMG, Upper East Siders!
Quick question: if you wanted to keep an engagement private, why would you tell people via Facebook? I mean, this is the kind of news where you call your friends and tell them the news followed with the prerequisite, “If you tell anyone, I will deny this conversation ever happened.” If this is really true, you might want to keep this truly private, as in family and close friends. Then again, Facebook is one thing. Calling the national media and having your entire engagement and relationship recorded and splashed on a national magazine is entirely (and obnoxiously) another (see: Pratt, Spencer and Montag, Heidi.)
Another point here: Leighton is really young. Like, 22 years young. I know that she has a pretty grown up lifestyle as a celebrity but marriage is big business. Why not spend a little time living together or date for a while to make sure? Marriage is a big deal and “’til death do us part” is a really, really long time. If this is really the best thing ever and they feel confident that they know what they are doing, then who am I to say anything? I just think she has a lot of living to do and getting married at such an early age might not be the wisest thing, possibly leading to massive consumption of Cheetos and full-on drama (see: Spears, Britney.)
